Why submit to IJTR?

The International Journal of Therapy and Rehabilitation (IJTR) is the leading interdisciplinary journal for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses and all other allied health professionals working in therapy and rehabilitation.

IJTR promotes interdisciplinary practice through the publication of high quality original research, clinical reviews and evidence-based articles from a range of disciplines. Articles are written by expert practitioners, practice educators and researchers, and peer-reviewed by leading international authorities to ensure that the journal is accessible, relevant and useful in daily practice.

IJTR's interdisciplinary nature and strong international focus encourage the collaboration and sharing of new ideas worldwide, and help practitioners and students enhance their knowledge and skills in a variety of fields and settings.

IJTR is a journal which strives to provide a platform for international and interdisciplinary therapy and rehabilitation research. We welcome contributions on all aspects of therapy and rehabilitation practice, including research papers, clinical reviews, case reports and discussion of policy.

IJTR is indexed on CINAHL, SCOPUS, AMED, OT Seeker and RECAL and is an excellent source in which to be referenced. Whether you are an experienced author or a novice, your contribution is greatly valued. With an international readership and rigorous peer-review policy IJTR is an excellent publishing option.

Types of submissions

Original research

A wide range of research articles are published every month to keep readers abreast of developments/research in their own and other professions internationally. Research includes clinical trials of interventions and efficacy of assessment and outcome measures; explorations of professional and educational initiatives, and studies examining patient perspectives of therapeutic inputs.

Commentaries

Commentaries by leading international authorities are published alongside articles to encourage further thought and analysis. Authors from different disciplines and countries give an alternative viewpoint on the topic under discussion. Authors of commentaries receive a PDF of their work to include in their CPD portfolio.

Critical reviews

In-depth reviews critique the evidence for a particular area of therapy and rehabilitation. These accessible articles provide the reader with a thorough understanding of the evidence base on the topic area.

Analysis articles

Narrative, evidence-based analysis articles discuss important developments and issues in rehabilitation practice, management, education and research.

Editorials

Monthly editorial articles evaluate key areas of change, debate or controversy, and may give a more personal and controversial opinion on current issues affecting allied health professionals.

Case reports

These articles focus on interesting cases in therapy and rehabilitation, which have important implications for the IJTR readership and highlight novel approaches to interdisciplinary working.

Research methodology series

Articles contributing to a series helping professionals involved in therapy and rehabilitation to examine the types of research designs used to build the evidence base for practice. Articles can focus on quantitative, qualitative or mixed methodologies and associated methods. They can be general in scope or focus on a specific research approach used to examine a particular aspect of therapy.
